Hey, lovely humans! 🌟
I’m moonwalking (yes, moonwalking) into this blog a tad bit late. Picture this: me, tapping on my keyboard, sipping on my made at home latte, and spilling some beans from my past.
But don’t worry, we will get back on track, and soon we’ll be zooming together in real-time.
So, let's rewind! 📼 It all started with…drumroll, please...a brand spanking new family doctor! Once upon a time in the land down under (nope, not where the hobbits live, but Australia!), I was living my best Aussie life. Even though my hubby is as Australian as a kangaroo holding a vegemite sandwich, my heartstrings always played the "I miss home" tune. But then, in a plot twist that nobody saw coming: COVID! This sneaky virus made us pack our bags and follow the North Star, all the way back to Canada in Oct. 2021.
Now, here’s some tea. Being 43 and wrapped up in the whirlwind of life, I'd been playing peekaboo with my "girls" (ladies, you know what I mean).

A word of wisdom from me to you, LADIES: get those girls checked at 40, especially if your family tree has some sketchy branches. My lineage? Riddled with it. With both my grandma and my mama facing the Big C, I kinda always had this sneaky suspicion. And, well, my left girl was giving me some signals, especially during those heartwarming cuddles with my little one.
Once in Canada, our hunt for a family Doc was as challenging as finding Waldo. But in December 2022, we found him! And just before Christmas, he sent me off for a routine mammogram. I won’t lie; it was daunting. Every time that machine squished, I could hear my inner voice ask, “Is it my turn?”
We were enjoying a New Years amidst the snowy magic of Banff treating ourselves with some surprise winnings (Yay us!), my phone buzzed with a call from the lab. My heart did a little somersault. By January 6th, I was back under the radar. The radiologists were paying extra attention to that spot I mentioned. And then, bam! "There's a shadow," they said. A biopsy? They thought it wasn't needed yet. But 50/50 odds? Honey, those aren’t odds I play with.
To be continued... The saga of standing my ground.
